In the mean time, today I played a 1000 point game against Space Marines, in which I won.

It was a Pitched Battle format, a Seize Ground match. This is a match type I’ve not played in the past, so it made a really nice change!

My forces were:

1 Big Mek, 1 Weirdboy, 1 Deffdread, 25 Slugga Boyz, 20 Slugga Boyz, 10 Shoota Boyz in a Trukk, 2 Deffkoptas, and 1 Battlewagon.

My opponent had 1 Chapter Master, 2 Scout Squads, 1 Tact. Squad in a Rhino, a Razorback, a Terminator Squad, and 2 Dreads (1 Regular, 1 special type, can’t remember which).

First turn went to my opponent, who moved his dreads, rhino and terminators forward. His dread opened fire on my Battlwagon, causing no damage, razorback fired twin linked lascannons against my deffdread, causing it to be unable to move or shoot. His scouts took out a small number of Ork Boyz.

My first turn involved me running most of my Ork Boyz forward, deploying my Shoota boyz on the first objective. In shooting, my Weirdboy unleashed a psychic attack on the Rhino, immobilizing it. My Big Shootas on my Trukk/Battlewagon/Deffkoptas/Shootas shot down his Chapter Master, and that concluded my turn.

His second turn ended with another small amount of Ork Boyz being shot down, and the battlewagon being shot at and completely missed. His Termies moved closer towards one of the objective. During my second turn, my Deffkoptas swooped over a building to assault the Rhino, my regular troops moved up, with my Weirdboy Zzaping the Razorback (However it missed), my battlewagon deployed a 20 strong squad of Ork Slugga Boyz ready to assault the Termies (Which consequently got wiped out).

3rd turn began, his CC orientated Dread got into combat with the squad off the battlewagon, my Deffkoptas being fired upon by the squad that got thrown out of the blown up Rhino, another small amount of Ork Boyz sniped by the Scouts, and the Razorback being pretty ineffectual During my turn, I assaulted the tactical squad with the Deffkoptas (Causing a few wounds, the Tact. Marines left combat not long after that), moving my large number of Boyz up, the Ork Wierdboy blowing up a few Tactical Marines, my Deffdread heading towards the Dreadnought in combat, and best of all, Ramming the 2nd Dreadnought with the battlewagon, which responded with DEATH OR GLORY! He fired a missle at the front armour of the Battlewagon, but it caused no damage. Due to the ramming, the Dread suffered a strengh 8 attack, while my Battlewagon suffered only a strength 4 attack. Due to the wagon’s Deffrolla, I caused another 4 Strength 10 hits, wrecking the Dreadnought.

During the 4th turn, my opponent took out more Ork Boyz, both in shooting from  scouts and tactical squad against the large Boyz squad, and in assault with the Dreadnought. On my turn, I moved my forces up, and declared a WAAAAAAAAAAAAGH! Giving my units Fleet of Foot, I ran my Orks, and then assaulted the Tactical Squad, the Razorback with the Deffkoptas, and the Deffdread into the Dreadnought combat. The combat results were, 1 destroyed Razorback, 1 wiped out tactical squad, a shaken dreadnought (Eugh.). I consolidated my Ork Boyz onto the 2nd objective, so I now held 2.

The fith turn, he tried to kill off my 2 Deffkoptas (Which were on 1 wound each at this point) with the Scouts, unfortunatly this didn’t happen. He moved his 2nd scout squad to take the 3rd objective, and the assault between the Boyz and Deffdread and Dreadnought concluded with no real damage being done. In my turn, my Deffkoptas finished off the last of the Scouts that had shot it that turn, and my Deffdread assault continued to be very ineffectual. My Shoota Boyz, and Wagon both fired Big Shootas at the remaining scout squad, killing a small number of scouts.

During the 6th turn, the last of the opposing scout squad managed to get out of a difficult terrain building, and the Deffdread/Boyz/Dreadnought combat ended with the Deffdread being destroyed! Unfortunatly for me, the Ork Boyz refused to run away, meaning I was still stuck in the damned assault. During my turn, I flew my Deffkoptas onto a rooftop (This caused one of my koptas to blow up….) and open fire on the remaining scouts, wiping them out.

This concluded the game, with me holding 2 objectives, and my opponent holding 0 (with only 1 Dreadnought remaining). Was a good game (for me), in which my Orks performed really well.

But the main star of today’s blog, as you may have guessed via one of my pictures above… Is my converted Land Speeder Storm,with extended length and extra Gubbinz! It’s still a WIP, as it’s not yet air worthy enough for my Mad Mek’s ‘Heli-Choppa’ force. But once it’s had some helicopter rotor blades added, I’m sure he’ll declare it a fit Trukk for Da Boyz!

Righ’ den, Da Big Boss seyz he wants me to tell youz grotz what boyz he’s takin’ for Da Waaagh, so listen up!

Da Mad Mek Zagskull is da biggest baddest ork around, and he’s got dis wicked kustom force field, to protect the boyz, and da mek’s toyz. He’s got da best armour ever, and he’s always kicking around dat grot of his that carries his bitz.He doesn’t like to do all dat leader stuff, so he letz all da Nobz run da show, but none of da Nobz big enuf to give ol’ Zagskull a kickin’.

And for sum reason, da Nobz bringing that Warp ‘Ead, Wurrskit, a mad messy Waaaghboy, where ever he is, there gunna be some big bangs I tellz ya!

Now, da Mad Mek loves his flyin’ boyz, but he’s all outta rokkit packs for dem Storm boyz, nasty accident, we dun talk bout it. Urzogg did make a lovely splat tho… Anyway, he’s given da top Kommandos sum “parachootes” to get em into da thik of things ded quick like, they throw em out da bosses favourite flyin’ ting and let em fall. Bit mad idea if you ask me… But Nob Snikgrob loves it, gets him right up close wif dat Power Klaw of ‘is. And he rarely takes da bullet, ’cause he’s got dat ‘eavy armour. Zagskull gave dese boyz some really Big Shootas, 2 of his best ‘uns! Shame they can’t hit a squiggof with them tings.

Now, da boss’s favourite boy… Grimblitz da Stompyest. He was given dis hooge stompy dread da boss took from sum ded space marinez. He’s got 4 of dem really ‘itty big fings, plenty of stabbin’ and cuttin’ and stompin’ in dat ting. Grimblitz nearly sleeps in it, doesn’t want no boyz havin’ a ride in it. Not that I’d try to take it, reckon he’s gone a bit mad…

Now den, there’s loads of da bosses’ Choppa Boyz, dey get to fly around in Zagskulls Heli Choppa, dis flyin’ ting he took from da oomies and made it more Orky. They from da Kult of Speed, dey love da Heli Choppa, almost as much as Choppin’ da oomies they took it from! Nob Thargroz Wazza leads em, biggest Speed Freek ever, he’s got a Power Klaw too, and ‘Eavy Armour.

And dere’s da boyz dat Zagskull runs wif, and Wurrskit too! Da Slugga Boyz is led by da biggest baddest Goff ‘cept da prophet Gazgkull ‘imself. Grimgull Da Goff is got da biggest powa klaw, and ded strong ‘eavy armour.

And den dere’s da Dakka Boyz, led by dat Nob Dakkaboss, dey ded shooty, but still miss a lot. But dey get da Flyin’ Trukk da boss made out of sum Speeder da Space Marine boyz had, and it’s red to make it go fasta den ever.

Den da flyin’ boyz, da boss made em dese wicked Deff Koptas, sum built from all dis scrap, others from da oomie’s tin can walker fings. Most of dem got dese wicked cuttas, dey as strong as a Power Klaw from Nob Grimgull!

Ah den we ‘ave da Mad Mek’s pride and joy, Da Heli-Choppa. It’s dis flyin fing he stole off da ‘oomies, and made a giant Deffkopta to carry his Choppa Boyz in! It’s got this great big Deff Rolla to run da other gitz down, 2 of da bosses best Big Shootas, a grot to keep it workin’ when Zagskull is busy, and got dem red Go Fasta Stripes.

And finally Da Big ‘Un, da Mad Mek’s biggest gun, on da biggest tank he could find… doesn’t always wurk mind, but it’s got 2 rokkit launchas just incase, and a Fixer Grot for when it gets stuck.

Right, time to explain some of the models I’ll be converting rather then buying the bog standard models.

First things first, the Kommandos are probably just going to be a mix of Ork Boyz and Kommandos models, but I’ll be attaching Parachutes of various designs to them to make it look like they’ve been dropped out of the nearest orky plane.

The next conversion, is going to be “Da Flyin’ Trukk”. I’m going to get one of these Land Speeders

I'm going to elongate the back for standing room for Ork Boyz, and add Helicopter blades

I’m going to extend a seating/standing area, to make it look more fit to carry Da Boyz, make it look more like a Helicopter style vehicle.

The biggest conversion is going to be on this Valkyrie model though

Normally this is for the Hammer of the Impirials, the Imperial Guard. Now it's the Orks...

I’ll be cutting most of the wings off, adding tank tracks and wheels to the bottom, changing the weaponry to Big Shootas and Rokkit Launchas, adding a Grot Rigger somewhere creating a Steam Roller to go on the front, and creating some giant Helicopter blades – and I’ve got to keep it transportable! This is a big task, but I’ve got a plan…

Keep your eyes on here, or on the Astronomicon forum, for my progress… I’ll be looking forward to in.

In the mean time, remember:

Green is using a Catachan green over a white prime, followed by Snot Green, followed by a light drybrush of Scorpion Green.

The yellow is (for now) Iyanden Darksun

Reds are Mechrite Red followed by Blood Red

The sword is Mordian Blue mixed with some Chaos Black, the lightning effect is Mordian Blue, followed by Enchanted Blue, and finally Enchanted Blue mixed with Skull White
